A safety transformer for pool lights is an essential part of every properly installed pool lighting system. It reduces the mains voltage of 230 V to a safe 12 V, which is designed to power pool lights.
The transformer provides safe electrical isolation of the power supply and ensures reliable operation of the lighting even in environments with an increased risk of electric shock. Its robust design, clear cable connections and easy installation make it a great choice for new pools as well as for upgrading existing lighting.
Key benefits:
converts voltage from 230 V to 12 V,
safe power supply for pool lights, IP65
electrical isolation between the primary and secondary side,
easy connection and servicing,
robust design and long service life.
The placement of electrical equipment around pools is governed by ČSN 33 2000-7-702 ed. 3 - Low-voltage electrical installations - Swimming pools and fountains.
Pool lights installed underwater use SELV protection with a maximum voltage of 12 V AC or 30 V DC. The SELV source, i.e. the safety transformer, must be located outside zone 0 and zone 1 of the pool.
Zone 1 normally extends 2 m from the edge of the pool and up to a height of 2.5 m above the surface. The adjacent zone 2 extends a further 1.5 m. Provided the requirements of the standard are met, the transformer may also be installed in zone 2, but its supply circuit must be protected by a residual current device with IΔn of no more than 30 mA.
For a simple and safe solution, we recommend installing the transformer outside the pool zones, for example in a plant room, a technology shed or a suitable electrical distribution board.
